Welcome to where they all fall down!!
![]()
Welcome to our "Myotonic"
page. We have been lucky to have
these wonderful creatures become our
4-legged family members & as long
as the Good Lord is willing, there
will be goats here at our ranch.
Here in Louisiana in the 4-H shows,
the myotonics don't have their own
classes & show in what they call
the AOB (any other breed than boers)
class. Myotonics were Alanna's first AOB
breed & they weren't always the
easiest to show especially since a lot
of people didn't know what they were
& would fall out laughing when
they "fainted" in the ring. Alanna
learned to laugh with them, comfort
her goat while it was down, &
get up & continue on. The myotonics
I believe will always be Alanna's
first love & will always hold a
special place in our hearts.
We never could seems to find the
time to go to any sanctioned myotonic
shows, always a conflict with shows
here or band or one of other
tons of things Alanna was involved in.
Now that she's in college she doesn't
show anymore, however I will be
following in her footsteps. Along with
some other fainter folks here in
Louisiana we are planning on attending
some sanctioned shows this year &
we are even planning a MGR Show
here in Louisiana. Please check our
"Show Page" for details & to
see how we are doing.
We have each goat's pedigree listed
under their picture(s) & some pedigrees
have blanks. If you happen to know
any missing information, I would greatly
appreciate it is you would email to
me at boeredsillygoatranch@hotmail.com
You will be given credit here on
the website. Any references pictures from
other breeders, credit has been given
to them, we ask the same in
return if you use any information or
pictures from our web pages. Thanks in advance.
We have had quite a few wonderful
fainters grace our lives over the
year. Some have went on to other
homes & some are no longer with
us, but their influences can still be
seen in our herd. Currently we have
1 buck & 10 does. All does
are hopefully bred & should start
kidding late March through late May.
Please visit the "For Sale" page
for list of pairings along with
reservations & availability.

At Alanna's very first goat
show in 2004, we met Mrs. Sandy
& Mr. David Odom of Leesville
& they showed us the most unusual
goats we had ever seen & call
them "fainters." Later that year
in November, Aunt Sandy (as she now
had become) asked Alanna to help her
show the fainters. She had a buckling
there that Alanna fell in love with,
SJO Slick Willie. Alanna & Willie
won Grand Champion that day & Alanna
begged & pleased & was not
real happy when the show was over
& we loaded up to go home
& Willie wasn't on the trailer.
She REALLY wanted him, she just didn't
know that Dad & I had already
talked to Aunt Sandy & Willie
would be coming to live with us.
He would be a surprise.
The day before Christmas Eve, Michael
(Dad) & Uncle Chris (my brother)
announced they were going Christmas shopping
by themselves, what they were really
doing was going to Leesville to get
Willie. Michael had made arrangements with
his sister & brother-in-law, Aunt Janet
& Uncle Doyle, to keep Willie at
their place till we could come &
Get him on Christmas Eve after Alanna
went to sleep. Around midnight Michael
& Christ went & got Willie
& put him in the pen &
we couldn't hardly wait for Alanna to
wake up & find him. We knew
she was going to be so surprised.
The first thing she saw that morning
when she woke up was a BIG note
beside her bed. That note led to
another one under the Christmas tree.
Then another one in the Kitchen. She
was on a scavenger hunt, for what
she didn't know, but now she was
really getting excited as the next
clue said to bundle up & head
outside. We had planned more clues
outside but after the first one it
clicked with Alanna & she ran
straight to the goat pens. There stood
Willie complete with a bow just
waiting for her. The look on her
face was priceless. She said Willie
was the best Christmas present she had
ever gotten. Willie went on to do
very well on the 4-H/FFA Show Circuit
here in Louisiana with Alanna. He had
many champions to his credit.
Since Willie was our first buck, we
really didn't know any better &
didn't set boundaries when he was
little. Alanna & Willie showed for
several years before she finally retired
him & allowed Shiloh to fully take
his place on the show string. This
is when we discovered our mistake.
Willie wasn't happy that he wasn't the
first one to be taken out for
grooming & didn't get as much
attention (he thought) as the other
show goats & he especially didn't
like it when other goats were loaded
on the trailer & he wasn't. We
played with him as always, groomed him
& he still got lots of attention,
but it didn't seem to be enough
& he got more & more aggressive,
so before someone got hurt, Michael
said he had to go. We tried to
sell him private treaty but no one
wanted an aggressive buck. So with
heavy hearts Michael & I took him
to the sale barn. My heart was
in my throat & I started praying.
Then an older gentleman started bidding
& kept bidding till he won the
bid & got Willie. After the sale
I approached this man & asked what
his plans for Willie were. He told
me he was going to live on about
20 acres of land land with about 40
or so ladies. He genuinely seemed
excited to have gotten a "stiff"
buck as he called Willie & said
he had been looking for a while.
That was in 2007. In 2009 I saw
the same gentleman & asked about
Willie & he said he was still
on his farm & he was really
pleased with him. We love our goats
including our bucks, but since WIllie,
we have learned to set the boundaries
early on & try our best to
make sure our goats mind their
manners, but sometimes...well you know
goats, they have a mind of their own.
SPECIAL NOTE - As as result of
getting into goats, we have met some
wonderful people who we now call
family. Through the "fainters" we met
Aunt Sandy & Uncle David, with
their gracious help, Alanna always had
fainters to show & we learned so
much & they instilled their love
for the breed into our family &
helped us to have a quality start.
Uncle David isn't with us anymore but
we are sure that he is watching
over us & gets a big kick
out of all the goat antics that
are always going on around here.

In early summer 2005,
Alanna was blessed
to add a brother sister pair to her show string,
special thanks to Aunt Sandy & Uncle David. SJO Savannah & SJO Shiloh.
They both would go on to be a valuable
asset to the show string & also
to the herd. Savannah would go on to another home
a
few years down the road when we were cutting
back. She found a great home
with our friends but sadly past last
year.
Shiloh was just
a little over 3 months old when
he & Savannah came to live at our ranch &
he is still here & our herd
sire & he will live out his days here.
He developed into a beautiful, well muscled buck with really nice confirmation
that he passes on to his
offspring. Being solid black, we really figured
that he would throw mostly black or
maybe black & white offspring. However Shiloh
did things his way & has had
a variety of colors from black to tri-colored spotted,
depending on which doe we breed him
to.
Shiloh & Alanna
were quite the team & Shiloh
thought that Alanna was the only
one that could handle him. We learned
our lesson with Willie, so he wasn't
spoiled like that & Shiloh learned his manners right off the
bat, but still he considers Alanna his ONLY owner & would do anything
for her, now me or Michael, well let's just
say Michael know what it feels like
to be deliberately ran into an iron pole. Since
Alanna has gone off the college Shiloh has
learned to tolerate us & even makes sure
he gets to the fence to get his
cookies.
Since Shiloh turned 6 April 2011,
we believe so much in his capabilities as a herd sire, that
we had him collected for the future just in case. Hopefully Shiloh did his job with his
10 ladies this year & we will
started having babies from late March to late
May. We can hardly wait.
Special Note - When we first started
having Myotonic babies we really didn't
know a lot about the fainting numbers
& since down here everyone thought
that the less sriff they were the
better & so all our babies were
registered as 3. As the kidding season
went by & we learned more we
learned what was the correct number to
register them as. Everything here including
kids from the past are most definitely
5 & 6's. We have only had
one buck kid in the past that
was from a "found" doe didn't faint at all & he was
weathered & sent to a pet home
along with his Mom. The number you
see in ( ) is the actual number
they are.

We had a
buck & needed a doe so in 2005 we
would add our first myotonic doe. We
purchased Opal from Mr. Brent &
Mrs. Kelli Gaspard near Lake Charles
Louisiana. We took a chance since she
was 2 & had never kidded but
Alanna loved her from the start. We
got her to breed later that year
& she became & still is our
foundation doe. Opal & Alanna shared
many Champions on the 4-H & JLGA
Youth Show Circuits here in Louisiana.
When washed & groomed, she still
looks really great for an "old
gal" except that now she has a
slight smile to her bite, but we
love her anyways. She passes her nice
confirmation & muscling onto her babies
& also those beautiful horns. Opal is truly her own goat.
She is loving ONLY when she wants to be & you'd
better watch out for those teeth!! Together Opal &
Alanna won
many Champions in the AOB Classes with
4-H & the Junior Louisiana Goat
Association here in Louisiana.
10/02/05 - Opal & Willie gave
us a beautiful black & white show
quality buckling, our very first fainter
baby. BOERed Silly's Onyx Freebird. Onyx did
well in the show ring with many Grands
& Reserve of his own. He would go to live at a
friend's house with a nice small herd
of fainter ladies. Unfortunately Onyx would
cross the rainbow bridge in early 2008
when we had a lot of bad weather
& tornados came through & the
barn collapsed he was in, but with
the passing of his life he saved
others. His new owners said his does
always slept with him
& because of the massive size of
his horns it kept the roof up
just enough to keep it from crushing
the does & his babies were born
a few months later.
The pictures above are of Alanna &
Opal their first show together in 2005
& their last show in 2009 before
Opal was retired. Also pictured above is Onyx &
Alanna
the night he was born. Then top
right as a mature buck.
Then bottom left at his new home
with the ladies.
08/31/06 - Our
first myotonic doeling to be born here
on the ranch. "BOERed Silly's Lucia." Opal & Willie's second
offspring. She looks & acts just
like her Mom. She is an excellent show quality doe & would
eventually become Alanna's main myotonic show
doe after she retired Opal. Lucia also has
many Grand & Reserve Champions to
her credit & Michael & I will
be showing her on the sanctioned myotonic
circuit hopefully in 2012.
11/03/07 - The following year
Opal would kid a buckling from
Shiloh. He
was gorgeous. Spitting image of his
dam only we could tell he would
be long coated. Dante was really something special & he knew it. He
started showing when he was just under
3 months old & ended up getting
Grand Champion over his multiple time
Grand Champion Sire. Alanna would show him
in several more shows & each time
he won Grand Champion. At 5 months
of age he was large for his size
& we knew that he would make
a great future herd sire. Unfortunately
that was not to be. Shortly after
his last show in Spring of 2008, he would get sick & just a
short time later would cross the
Rainbow Bridge. We tried everything. We
really didn't know what happened. Our
vet thought he might have caught
something at the show. There will never be another
Dante but hope one day Opal &
Shiloh will give us a repeat.
05/25/09 - We
gave Opal 08 off & she did
her best to make up for it in
09 with her second offspring from
Shiloh, BOERed Silly's Sparda & what
a buck. He is almost the spitting
image of Dante & did really well
for Alanna. However in 2010 since Alanna
was near graduating & we were
cutting the herd back, we gave him
to one of Alanna's friends who
continue to show him & did quite
well & her became her herd sire
& is still there & they are
looking forward to his kids in the
spring.
2012 - Since we were suppose to be
cutting back we didn't breed Opal for
2010 babies, however hopefully she is
bred to Shiloh this year & we
can hardly wait for those babies. We
are REALLY hoping the pink stork stops
by here this year!

Lucia is Opal's only doe kid. We knew from birth we were keeping her. She has truly been her mother's daughter in looks as well as attitude & she definitely does things her OWN way, but we love her anyways, just like her dam. Lucia took her mother's place in the show ring with Alanna & followed in her mother's footsteps of many Champion wins on the 4-H & JLGA Show Circuits. She has only kidded once for us & we think alot of it has to do with that we never separated Lucia from her mom & when we try to now they both stress so much to the point they stop eating & everything till we placed them back together. Since we were cutting back & the does were so nice, they each went to show homes. We are sure hoping Lucia caught this time as we kept her & Opal together & the pink stork drops by late April 2012 In 2012 we will also start attending some sanctioned myotonic shows & even plan on hosting one here in Louisiana. Lucia will once again be on the show string.

Trish was one of a pair of twins that were from Mrs. Sandy Odom in Leesville Louisiana. They both did really well on the show string, however Trish always placed above Lady. When we down sized, Lady would move on to a new home where the new owners wanted to concentrate on a black & white herd, being black & white Lady fit in nicely & is still there. Trish has really nice confirmation & muscling & along with her color passes these traits to her offspring. She is very easy going, easy kidder, & a very protective mother. She certainly did this in her first two kiddings & again since we were suppose to be cutting back, all those kids when on to show homes. She usually placed Reserve Champion behind Lucia. She had a tremendous buck kid last year that is now on the show circuit with his new owner. Good Luck Destinee & Areus. Trish is now retired from the show ring. Can't wait to see what babies her & Shiloh produce this year.

We decided early in 2011 that we were going to get back into the myotonics, I had always wanted to show & Dad said he would help. So we decided to add some more does & new blood to our very small herd of 5. Made plans to do some traveling up to Tennessee among other places to accomplish this. However didn't quite work out, as a planned surgery for me turned into major problems & then strict order no traveling. After total of 19 days in the hospital, very strict orders of rest & recoup along with the no traveling, absolutely no tending the goats for 6 week, & only 2 weeks into that time frame, Michael (my wonderful husband) knew I was really disappointed about not being able to make this happen. Just happened we found some does a lot closer (just barely in Texas from Louisiana) & he did all the driving & I just rode along. We ended up adding Sarah, along with 3 more does from that Texas Trip. Just didn't tell the doc we went. LOL! Sarah is a little smaller than what I had in mind, but is very myotonic, more like a 6, has nice confirmation, beautiful coat pattern, & a real sweetheart, add that on top of her genetics, I knew she was coming to live in Louisiana. The lady we purchased Sarah from said she had kidded before & she did have a small udder but we couldn't find any records of any offspring of hers being registered. Sarah should kid by Shiloh late March to early April 2012. We sure are hoping for some blue eyes from this pairing.

Oh Miss Priss. When people come here to see our goats, they look at Miss Priss with her ragged ear & one clouded eye & ask why is she here. They don't look at her confirmation just her faults, if they only knew. I knew I wanted her because I thought her bloodlines would go well here & she was so standoffish & just looked like she needed to be loved, now whether she wanted to or not was another matter but I was determined to make her like me & with a lot of hard work (and lots of cookies) I have. She has really fit in well here & I love her dearly & she has found her forever home. In researching her pedigree we were only able to find one set of kids registered to her, however we were assured she had kidded many times & did have a small udder when we purchased her. We are really excited about her cross with Shiloh. She is also one of our Texas trip girls. If the Good Lord Blesses us with a doe, we will probably retain her for our herd, we will just have to wait & see. Miss Priss should kid mid April 2012

Another Texas trip girl. I had picked her out on the internet. We saw her as we were driving up & I started hoping she was still for sale. When we got in the area where she was, you could tell she was a power house. I told Michael right away she was going on the show string. Weelll, she quickly became Bristol the Pistol after we got home as she tried us every way to Sunday before finally deciding she hadn't been shipped out to no man's land & she was going to have the life of Riley. "IF" we can ever get her to lead, she will be on our show string. She definitely has a mind of her own & doesn't mind asserting herself to the other herd Queens here. This may be one that Michael gets to show. LOL! Bristol should kid by Shiloh mid April 2012.

Last of our Texas Trip girls, Michael actually spotted Betsy before I did, actually he saw her rump first & when she turned around & he said, "That one needs to come home with us." Hmm, I thought this trip was for me. Oh well, I completely agreed. THEN the lady told us she kidded quads the first time & triplets the next. I immediately turned to Michael & told him "HE" would have bottle baby duty. Betsy is a power house just like Bristol. Although she doesn't try us as hard as Bristol does. She loves cookie time & gets very vocal if her turn doesn't come as quick as she thinks it should. However she is just as stubborn as Bristol when it comes to leading. Looks more like a fish on the end of a line. IF we can get her to leading enough that she isn't flopping everywhere, she also will be on the show string & we can't wait till her time to kid from Shiloh comes in mid April.

Piper, Phoebe, &
Paige
We purchased
these three late summer 2011 from a
friend that had gotten into the
fainting goats a few years back &
bought out some breeders in another
state & also some of these goats
came from Louisiana. There was paperwork
with some of the goats, but none
of them were were tattooed or micro chipped
so it was impossible to tell who was
who. They were all sold to him
as 100% & that was indicated on
the papers & you could tell
looking at them that they were.
Piper was the first one that caught
my eye because of her coloring she
looks a lot like some of our does.
We mouthed her & with what we
were told, we figured her to be
Spring 09 kid. She has had two
sets of kids. She has the muscling
& structure & a bonus is her
medium skirted coat. Piper stands 23.5
inches high & is very myotonic.
She should kid mid April 2012. Can't
wait to see what her & Shiloh
produce. She will be registered as a
found goat with the MGR & since
Shiloh is already registered, their
offspring will be & this will be
the start of keeping up lineage on
this line.

Phoebe was the next one we decided on, again we loved her color. She is a little more delicate boned, but a real sweetheart & she was staying real close to Piper & we really think they may be mother daughter. Again by mouthing her & what we were told, we figured she was a Spring 10 kid & she did kid in mid 2011 as she still had a small udder. Alanna & I contribute her size & built to maybe the fact that her dam was young when she was bred for the first time & then Phoebe herself was young. Phoebe also isn't one to push her way to the feed, she is low on the chain of command here, but she gets special treatment & is picking up. We feel like Piper, that they will produce nice babies from their pairings with Shiloh. She will be registered as a found goat with the MGR & since Shiloh is already registered, their offspring will be & this will be the start of keeping up lineage on this line. Phoebe stands 22.5 inches tall & is also very myotonic.

Paige was our other pick. I really had a hard time picking, there were several more I wanted but just couldn't do it at that time. Paige's muscling is what got us really looking at her. She seemed a little down on her pasturns but when I looked at her feet, they needed to be trimmed, so we took a chance. We have foot her on a regular foot trimming schedule & she did pick up in her pasturns. She was also hanging close to Piper & Phoebe, so it made sense to just bring them all home. Same with Paige, by mouthing her & what we were told, we figured she was also a Spring 10 kid & she did kid in mid 2011 as she still had a small udder. The owner did say her dam was an older doe that had kidded several times but was no longer with us. Paige is hopefully bred to Shiloh. We feel like Piper, that she will produce nice babies. She too will be registered as a found goat with the MGR & since Shiloh is already registered, their offspring will be & this will be the start of keeping up lineage on this line. Paige stands 22 inches tall & is also very myotonic.
